So many things have happened this year, I can't put them all down. I lost people I love, I gained people I love, and my baby has grown into a little human. It's been a hell of a year, we'll see what the next one brings. Happy 2012!

Here's me. Talking about my awesome kid again.
Yeah, nothing new there. Seems to be a pattern but, as I've said before, you like her too or you wouldn't be reading!
Lily is getting smarter and smarter these days. Which I suppose is to be expected, it would be bad if she were getting dumber. But I'm always so delighted when she learns new things. She gets shy so I don't get to show her off sometimes. So here's some videos so you can see, even if she won't show you in person.

On: Cookie Cutters (not the pastry-related kind)
We hadn't gotten around to getting Lily's hair cut yet. I was scared. I know a lot of friends who never got their girls' hair cut for years, just let it grow. But none of them had Lily's weird head of hair. And of course a lot of my friends had boys.
We wanted to take Lily to see Santa today and decided that, though I find her crazy out of control hair to be adorable, it may not look good on the keepsake Santa photo. My point:
So we went to Cookie Cutters to get it cut. It was the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday but surprisingly, they were booked. Seriously? Any time I have time off in the middle of the week and go out in public, I'm strangely offended that others are out too. WHY AREN'T YOU PEOPLE AT WORK! This is MY day off and you should not interfere. Anyway, John called the other Cookie Cutters and asked if they had an appointment. She asked if we could be there at two. It was 1:58. John made some smart ass remark to the lady about the string theory/quantum physics needed to bend space and time so we could get from 12300 south to 7800 south in two minutes. Then, suddenly we had an appointment for a much more manageable 2:20. We headed out.
Let me tell you this: they are awesome. When I first heard of them as a non-parent, I honestly thought it was just too much. It seemed ridiculous. Now, I find the crazy car/firetruck chairs adorable and the tv at every station entirely reasonable. Point one for parenting reality.
The girl that cut her hair was a doll. She gave me suggestions but made sure to ask my opinion on everything. She even gave me a lock of her hair which, again as a non-parent, I would have found weird. I guess I still find it a little odd but I'm just going with it.
I confessed to the girl that I didn't really know the slightest thing about doing hair. That I'm a ponytail 9 days out of 10 kind of girl and so the idea of me getting creative with Lily's hair wasn't really all that likely. But the girl was very cute and offered to style it for Lily's picture with Santa and to show me a few tricks on some easy hair-do's. That still doesn't mean it will get done but it's nice to know, I suppose.
All in all, I would definitely recommend cookie-cutters.
Oh yeah, and it came with a free cookie cutter. A snowman.
